Marcus Aurelius on Revenge

What I learned from Marcus Aurelius about Revenge

Welcome to Make Daily! This email contains an idea, reflection, and a simple action you can take on your work today.

Idea 💡

“The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury.” ― Marcus Aurelius

Reflection 🤔

I've was made fun of for being “too serious” while growing up. It always made me feel insecure, and so I got comfortable working on my projects alone.

I never wanted others to feel that way. So instead of mirroring the behavior, I went the opposite direction. Now I’ll be the first person to cheer someone else on to pursue their dreams.

The best revenge was never to make someone else feel small. It was to make them feel larger than life.

Action ✅

Are you mirroring behaviors in your life that you don’t like? Drop them today.

About the creator 👤

Marcus Aurelius was Roman emperor from 161 to 180 and a Stoic philosopher.
