The world is noisy and your dreams deserve attention. Use this minute to shift your focus back to what you want to get done today.
“Focusing is about saying No.” ― Steve Jobs
Are you constantly distracted by new ideas?
As a creative person, shiny projects appear every day to steal your attention. If you don’t learn how to say no, you will never get anything valuable done.
Steve Jobs was one of the most focused (and productive) founders of all time. How did he get that way? By saying no.
“I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.”
Say no to a distraction today to focus on the right thing.
Deeper Dive 🌊
Here’s a clip of Jobs 6 months after returning to Apple in 1997. Employees hated the direction he was taking the company, and many believed that its best days were behind them.
A few amazing things about this video:
- It was 4 years before the iPod was released, and 10 years before the iPhone
- Apple was worth $2.3 billion at this time. Today - it’s worth $2.78 trillion
- His jeans have remained lit 😂
Imagine if he never got the company to focus and they kept going different directions? Where can you apply that level of focus and bravery in your creative work today?
