The "Father of Mindfulness" on Rest

Welcome to Make Daily! This email contains an idea, reflection, and a simple action you can take on your work today.
Idea 💡
"It's very important that we re-learn the art of resting and relaxing. Not only does it help prevent the onset of many illnesses that develop through chronic tension and worrying; it allows us to clear our minds, focus, and find creative solutions to problems." — Thich Nhat Hanh
Reflection 🤔
I tend the burn the candle at both ends, and there are many times where I've overdone it.
Even though I still have the will to grind through projects, they have stopped being fun or life-giving. I stopped having fresh ideas or breakthroughs because my brain is on fire from all the problem-solving.
When I hit these walls, it's important for me to restore a practice of rest.
Action ✅
I am working on building a short daily practice of rest. No phone, no email, no stimulus on my brain except a nice walk outside.
Build in a moment of rest for yourself today.
