Vincent Van Gogh on Silencing Your Inner Critic

Welcome to Make Daily! This email contains an idea, reflection, and a simple action you can take to improve your life today.

Idea šŸ’”

If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.

ā€” Vincent Van Gogh

Reflection šŸ¤”

"If you aren't critical of the inner critic, it will bully you around forever." (Share)

Your inner voice is the most fierce critic you will ever face.

I like to remember that my inner voice is just seeking security and safety. It becomes loudest when those things are threatened. Sometimes its useful, and sometimes is harmful.

The key is to listen and make a choice of what you really want. If you aren't critical of the inner critic, it will bully you around forever.

Action āœ…

Where has your inner critic gotten too bossy?

Do something to shut it up today. You're in control of your life.

Creator Fact šŸ‘¤

Vincent Van Gogh is most famous for two things. The first is Starry Night, and the second is that he cut off his own ear. What's less known is how these two events are connected.

After checking himself into an "asylum" for help after the ear incident, he was able to continue painting while receiving treatment ā€” and that is where his most famous work (Starry Night) was created.

A good reminder that sometimes our greatest triumphs are a response to our greatest failures.
